§ 9-16. Board of health.

  • (a)

    The affairs of the health district shall be managed by a board which shall have all the duties exercised or performed immediately prior to the effective date of the creation of this health district by the directors of health of the Towns of Southbury and Woodbury.

    (b)

    The health district board shall exercise all the authority as to public health required of or conferred upon the Towns of Southbury and Woodbury by law and shall have the powers set forth in section 19a-243 of the General Statutes, as amended.

    (c)

    The board of selectmen of the Towns of Southbury and Woodbury, or such other legislative body as section 19a-241(b) shall designate, shall appoint one (1) person per town to be a member of such board. In addition, if the population of either town exceeds ten thousand (10,000) inhabitants, as annually estimated by the department of health services, such town shall be entitled to one (1) additional member for each ten thousand (10,000) population or part thereof provided no such municipality shall have more than five (5) representatives on the health district board. The board shall initially consist of two (2) members from the Town of Southbury and one (1) member from the Town of Woodbury.

    (d)

    The term of office for members of the health district board shall be three (3) years.
